Global Communication Networks is proud to announce that its CEO and President, Chris Palermo, has been nominated for the Outstanding Volunteer Service Award at the 13th annual “Men with Caring Hearts (MWCH)” awards luncheon, benefiting Florence Fuller Child Development Centers (FFCDC).
The 13th Annual Florence Fuller Child Development Centers’ (FFCDC) Men with Caring Hearts Awards Luncheon honored 21 unique individuals from various Palm Beach and Broward Country non-profit organizations. The awards luncheon provides the opportunity for local non-profit organizations to recognize and thank the male volunteers who improve the lives of others in Palm Beach and Broward County. S. Chris Palermo was nominated by The George Snow Scholarship Fund for his outstanding volunteerism and philanthropy. Ellyn Okrent, FFCDC’s CEO, summed up the event in her luncheon speech: “Volunteering is caring in action. The men recognized today have the biggest hearts that continue to give to a variety of causes. Our community is a better place because of all of the nominees and the non-profit organizations that helped nominate these gentlemen.” Chris Palermo has made significant efforts to support his nonprofit organization The George Snow Scholarship Fund, by participating in the sixth annual Boca’s Ballroom Battle and raising more than $38,000, which is dedicated to helping individuals in financial need through a scholarship program for residents of Palm Beach County who are continuing their education.
“Our nominee, Chris Palermo, is one of those unique individuals who throws himself head first into all that he does. This is evidenced by his very successful business and his heavy involvement in a number of charities. We are fortunate that Chris has contributed significant volunteer time and financial resources to the George Snow Scholarship Fund through his participation as a community dancer in last year Boca’s Ballroom Battle. Chris was our top male fund-raiser during the 2013 event and has agreed to co-chair the 2014 event for the Scholarship Fund. It is only through kind and giving people like Chris that we are able to do what we do for so many deserving young people,” says Tim Snow.
“Being Nominated for Florence Fuller’s ‘Men with Caring Hearts’ award was an unexpected surprise,” says Palermo. “After receiving this prestigious nomination I researched the award and was floored by the gesture. For the past few years, I, with the help of my wife, company employees, and friends have raised close to $100,000 dollars to support great organizations like The George Snow Scholarship Fund, The Dolphins Cycling Challenge to help find a cure for cancer, Catherine’s Hope for a Cure to raise awareness for Battens Disease, and The 100 Black Men of South Florida‘s Thanksgiving Food drive. I was honored to sit among Palm Beach and Broward counties heroes for this prestigious award, and will continue to raise money for these and other great organizations in the future.”
