A hospital chain was looking to provide a cost-effective, high bandwidth, diverse network solution to share and distribute large amounts of vital information among member hospitals throughout the eastern United States. In addition, they wanted a solution that would help them connect smaller doctors’ offices affiliated with those regional hospitals.
GCN provided Ethernet Virtual Private Lines (EVPL) services from one of our many Tier 1 carriers. We also coordinated the installation of more than 20 45M-200M DS-3 and Ethernet circuits to the company’s two main data centers. Many of these circuits required fiber builds to accommodate the large bandwidth requirements. Notably, GCN project-managed the entire implementation from start to finish. In addition to the 20+ hospitals, over 40 smaller doctors’ offices were connected with 3M-10M T-1 and Ethernet services over the same carrier’s MPLS network.
By utilizing GCN’s dedicated Project Management staff to coordinate the carrier’s installations, the client was able to redirect resources to configuring their application versus coordinating installations. This allowed the applications to be up and running ahead of schedule, while providing a more reliable, higher speed network at a cost saving of 25% of their initial forecasts.
